Prohibits all establishments in Westborough from providing single-use plastic disposable shopping bags for the purpose of carrying away goods from the point of sale. Requires plastic bags to have a minimum thickness of 4.00 mil. Allows recycled paper and reusable shopping bags. 
"Recyclable paper bag" - means a paper bag that is 100 percent recyclable and contains at least 40% post-consumer recycled content, and displays the words "recyclable" and "made from 40% post-consumer recycled content" in a visible manner on the outside of the bag.
"Reusable checkout bag" - means a bag with handles that is specifically designed and manufactured for multiple reuse and is either polyester, polypropylene, cotton or other durable material, or durable plastic that is at least 4.0 Mils in thickness.
Westford

Recyclable paper bag means a paper bag that is 100% recyclable and displays in a visible manner on the outside of the bag the word "recyclable" or a symbol identifying the bag is recyclable.
A reusable checkout bag shall be a bag with handles that is specifically designed for multiple use, preferably made of natural fibers, that is at least 3.0 mils or thicker.
Weston
January 2018
Prohibits all establishments in Weston from providing single-use plastic disposable shopping bags for the purpose of carrying away goods from the point of sale. Requires plastic bags to have a minimum thickness of 4.00 mil. Allows recycled paper and reusable shopping bags. 
"Recyclable paper bag" shall mean a paper bag that is 100% recyclable and contains at least 40% post-consumer recycled content, and displays in a visible manner on the outside of the bag (1) the word "recyclable" or a symbol identifying the bag as recyclable and (2) a label identifying the bag as being made from post-consumer recycled content and the percentage of post-consumer recycled content in the bag.
"Reusable Check-out bag" shall mean a bag with handles that is specifically designed for multiple reuse and that is either (a) made of natural fibers (such as cotton or linen); or (b) made of durable, non-toxic plastic other than polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride that is generally considered a food-grade material that is more than 4 mils thick.
Williamstown

Prohibits all establishments in Williamstown from providing single-use plastic disposable shopping bags for the purpose of carrying away goods from the point of sale. Requires plastic bags to have a minimum thickness of 4.00 mil. Allows recycled paper and reusable shopping bags. 
Recylcable Paper Bag means a paper bag that meets all of the following requirements: ( 1) contains no old growth fiber, (2) is one hundred percent ( 100%) recyclable overall and contains a minimum of forty percent ( 40%) post-consumer recycled material; ( 3) is capable of composting, consistent with the timeline and specifications of the American Society of Testing and Materials ASTM) Standard D6400.  
Reusable Bag: a) A retail establishment may provide or sell reusable carryout bags to its customers or to any person. b) A reusable carryout bag must have a handle. c) A reusable carryout bag must be constructed out of: 1) cloth, other washable fabric, or other durable materials whether woven or non- woven; or recyclable plastic, with a minimum thickness of 4.0 mil. d) A reusable carryout bag must meet the minimum reuse testing standard of 175 reuses carrying 16 pounds.
Wilmington

Prohibits all establishments in Wilmington from providing single-use plastic disposable shopping bags for the purpose of carrying away goods from the point of sale. Requires plastic bags to have a minimum thickness of 2.25 mil. Allows recycled paper and reusable shopping bags. 
A paper bag that is 100 percent recyclable and contains at least 40 percent post-consumer recycled content, and displays the words "Recyclable" and "made from at least 40% post-consumer recyclable content" in a visible manner on the outside of the bag.
Reusable Bag means a bag that meets all of the following criteria: A. Is designed and manufactured to withstand repeated uses over a period of time; B. Is washable or made from a material that can be cleaned and disinfected regularly; C. If plastic, has a minimum thickness of 2.25 mils, has handles, and has the capability of carrying a minimum of 18 pounds.
Winchester

Prohibits all establishments in Winchester from providing single-use plastic disposable shopping bags for the purpose of carrying away goods from the point of sale. Requires plastic bags to have a minimum thickness of 4.00 mil. Allows recycled paper and reusable shopping bags. 
Recyclable Paper Bag: A paper bag that is 100% recyclable and contains at least 40% post-consumer recycled content, and displays the words "Recyclable" and "made from [at least] 40% post-consumer recycled content" in a visible manner on the outside of the bag.
Reusable Bag: A sewn bag with stitched handles that is specifically designed and manufactured for multiple reuse and that is either (a) made of natural fibers such as cotton or linen; or (b) made of other durable material excluding polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride; and which also meets the following requirements: (a) Has a minimum lifetime capability of 175 uses; and can carry at least 25 pounds; (b) Is machine washable or is made of a material that can be cleaned or disinfected; and (c) Has a thickness greater than 4.0 mils.
Yarmouth
May 2018
Prohibits all establishments in Yarmouth from providing single-use plastic disposable shopping bags for the purpose of carrying away goods from the point of sale. Requires plastic bags to have a minimum thickness of 4.00 mil. Allows recycled paper and reusable shopping bags. 
Paper bags with or without handles provided at the point of sale to a customer of an Establishment for use to transport or carry away purchases, such as merchandise, goods or food, etc. and that (1) are one hundred percent (100%) recyclable, and (2) contain a minimum of forty percent (40%) post-consumer recycled paper content, and (3) have all the following information printed in a visible manner on the outside of the bag: the word "recyclable," the name and country of the manufacturer, and the percentage of post-consumer recycled paper content.
A "reusable" shopping bag is defined as s bag specifically designed and manufactured for long term, multiple reuses made of cloth, fabric or other durable, washable materials.
